REVAMP | To Release New Album In September

 

Singer Floor Jansen has inked a new deal with Nuclear Blast Records for the release of the second album from her REVAMP project. The CD was recorded at SandLane Studio in Rijen, The Netherlands with Joost van den Broek (ex-AFTER FOREVER) and will feature guest choir parts by Marcela Bovio (STREAM OF PASSION) and Daniël de Jongh (TEXTURES).

REVAMP's as-yet-untitled new album will be released on the following dates:

September 9: UK

September 6: Rest Of Europe 

September 12: Japan 

September 17: USA

Says Floor: "Never before in my career I faced a situation like the one we were in with this album. It was a huge challenge because of several reasons. My sickness caused a major break between the first album and tours, plus the writing of the first ideas for the second album and the actual finalization of those songs and the album. And right at the moment we started to pick everything back up after I was sick, I joined NIGHTWISH. Like a winter and a summer storm, they bring unexpected things, some nasty ones and some amazingly wonderful!

"Also the recording of this album was unlike any I did before because I was on tour with NIGHTWISH most of the time. Guided by Joost van den Broek, the talented musicians of REVAMP recorded all the instruments, and when I came back to The Netherlands, I stepped into the studio to find a rough diamond. A shiny dark crystal: ready for my vocals. That was magical! The singing went smoother than ever before. The lyrics are like a roadmap through our storms and through my personal detours and horrors.

ETERNAL FLIGHT | Tour Dates Announced

French metallers ETERNAL FLIGHT are rehearsing for their European tour, which will begin on Tuesday May 14th and will finish on Sunday, June 2nd, 2013. The band will be the opening act for CIRCLE II CIRCLE and NIGHTMARE.

Commented ETERNAL FLIGHT vocalist Gérard Fois: “That’s a great honour to share the stage of these bands! It opens doors for us and I’m sure fans of both bands will embrace us as we have a lot of musical background in common! I’m a long time fan of SAVATAGE and the funny story is that 20 years ago I shot them for a magazine at the Z7 in Switzerland and now I’m back there but on stage and on the same bill as Zak’s band! Also I grew up in the same area as NIGHTMARE and when I was a teen they released their first albums back in the 80's and they’re one of the reasons I’m in a band! So to tour with them has a particular flavour! It’s also the first real tour for ETERNAL FLIGHT and everyone is excited about this opportunity and to finally play for our fans! We’ll play also some new songs of the 4th album we’ll record after the tour and we’ll shoot images for video clips and road reports. ICED EARTH | New Album Title Revealed

 

North American metallers ICED EARTH have set "Plagues Of Babylon" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in October via Century Media Records. The CD will be recorded and mixed in between a string of European festival appearances this summer.

LUCA TURILLI'S RHAPSODY | To Release New Album In Summer 2014

Italian "cinematic" metallers LUCA TURILLI'S RHAPSODY will release their new album in June/July 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD will once again be produced by Luca Turilli and it will be recorded and mixed by Sebastian Röder at the Backyard Studios in Kempten, Germany.

EPICA | Video Footage Of "Retrospect" Anniversary Performance

On March 23rd, Dutch female-fronted symphonic metallers EPICA celebrated their 10th anniversary with a special performance entitled "Retrospect". Joining them on stage was a 70-piece symphonic orchestra and choir, making it the band's most ambitious project ever. People from over 45 countries attended the show, which was also broadcast live online in HD quality via LiveMusicStage.

"Everything we have done and achieved in these last 10 years [came] together on the 23rd of March," said EPICA guitarist Mark Jansen. "With a big orchestra, our music comes to life exactly the way it's meant to be. Very rarely can we realize all of it and that makes it so special."

AYREON | New Album Title Revealed

 

Dutch guitarist/composer Arjen Lucassen has set "The Theory Of Everything" as the title of the new AYREON album, tentatively due in the fall.

Regarding the progress of the songwriting sessions for the upcoming effort, Lucassen said: "I've finished recording demos of the music, and am now about halfway finished with the lyrics. It's going to be a double album, so there is a lot to write! It's extra challenging as well, because lyrically I've left the old AYREON universe behind and have to create a new one from scratch. I'm really excited about the lineup and how everything is progressing so far."

FLOOR JANSEN | Putting Finishing Touches On Second REVAMP Album

Former AFTER FOREVER and current NIGHTWISH touring singer Floor Jansen is putting the finishing touches on the second album from her REVAMP project. "The final recording sessions are taking place this month," reads a post on REVAMP's Facebook page. "We just finished a wonderful day in the SandLane Studio with Joost van den Broek (ex-AFTER FOREVER) to record the choir parts. Floor joined forces with Marcela Bovio (STREAM OF PASSION) and Daniël de Jongh (TEXTURES) and together they spiced up the epic choir parts on this heavy upcoming album!"

REVAMP's new CD will be released in the fall via an as-yet-undisclosed label.

PLACE VENDÔME | Lineup Confirmed For Third Album

Acording to the Michael Kiske Official Fanclub, the lineup for PLACE VENDÔME's third album will consist of Michael Kiske (UNISONIC, ex-HELLOWEEN) on vocals, Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69, UNISONIC) on bass, Uwe Reitenauer (PINK CREAM 69, SUNSTORM) on guitar, Gunter Werno (VANDEN PLAS) on keyboards and Dirk Bruinenberg (ELEGY, ADAGIO) on drums. Ward is also producing the CD, which is tentatively due later this year via Frontiers Records.

Commented Reitenauer: "Lots of songwriters are involved; Dennis and I were too busy to write many songs since we have other bands like PINK CREAM 69 or UNISONIC... I was asked to do the guitar work again. But the songs are just demos — lots of riffs, solos and some parts are composed by Dennis and me."

PLACE VENDÔME's second album "Streets Of Fire", was released in February 2009 through Frontiers Records. The CD was recorded at Ward's studio in Karlsdorf, Germany, with Ward's PINK CREAM 69 bandmate Kosta Zafiriou and Gunther Werno of VANDEN PLAS laying down drums and keyboards, respectively. A promotional video for the song "My Guardian Angel" — written by Magnus Karlsson (BOB CATLEY, PRIMAL FEAR) — was included as a special interactive bonus on the album and marked Kiske's visual return to the scene after years of a self-imposed exile.
